The International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences was established in 1957 as a non-government and not-profit scientific organization. Its mission is to be a facilitator and promoter of international exchange, collaboration and partnership for the advancement of aeronautics.
The main trends of ICAS are as follows:
Currently the ICAS consolidates 60 scientific enterprises, business firms and companies from aviation industry from 32 states in Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Australia. Among these companies are TSAGI, ONERA, DLR, NLR, Airbus, EADS, Boeing, Bombardier and so on. The congress-holder state is to be defined on the competition basis four years before the congress starts. In 2010, Russia won the right to hold this event in 2014. The victory of the Russian application demonstrates the universal recognition of the Russian contribution to the international aeronautical science. Today the Congress Program is completed. The ICAS Committee reviewed 1050 abstracts out of which were selected 838 papers, including 280 papers that were submitted by Russian scientists and professionals from 55 organizations. 558 papers were submitted by foreign experts from 38 states. About 1000 participants from all over the world are deemed to attend the ICAS -2014 Congress.
